1. Who are the organisers of this competition?
The organiser is National Parks Board (NParks) with The Photographic Society of Singapore as our organising partner.
2. When is the launch of the photography competition?
The photography competition will be launched on 2 July 2011.
3. When is the closing date?
There are different closing dates for each theme:

4. How many photographs can I submit?
You can submit a maximum of 5 photographs per theme per photographer. A total of 20 photographs for the entire competition.
5. How many times can I submit the entry form?
Under each theme, you can only submit the entry form once. If there are repeat submissions bearing the same NRIC/Passport number, only the first submission for each theme will be entered into the competition.
6. How can photographs be submitted for the Competition?
7. What format should the photographs be in?
Only photographs in JPEG format and no larger than 2 MB in size will be accepted.
8. What kind of photographs can I take?
Theme 1 - Our Parks and Gardens
The photographs of landscapes of our parks and gardens, of people using our parks, gardens and green spaces.
Theme 2 - Trees and Forests
The photographs can include streetscapes (trees and plants lining our roads), heritage trees and roads, park connectors, large trees and forests at our parks and nature reserve.
Theme 3 - BiodiverCity
The photographs should focus on plants and animals found in Singapore's natural environment, such as Nature Reserves, Parks, Singapore Botanical Garden etc. Examples of unsuitable photo subjects include domestic pets, and household/potted plants.
Theme 4 - My City in a Garden
The photographs should depict your vision of "City in a Garden". For example, they can include sceneries of greenery integrated with urban landscape or green cityscapes.
9. Where can I take the photographs?
Theme 1 - Our Parks and Gardens
You can visit any of our parks and gardens, including East Coast Park, Pasir Ris Park, Fort Canning Park, Singapore Botanic Gardens, Kent Ridge Park, Southern Ridges and other green spaces.
Theme 2 - Trees and Forests
You can visit any of the heritage roads, streets, park connectors, nature reserves, parks etc.
Theme 3 - BiodiverCity
You can visit any of the nature reserves, parks, Singapore Botanic Gardens, park connectors etc.
Theme 4 - My City in a Garden
You can visit any part of Singapore including our parks, gardens, open green spaces, urban areas etc.

10. How do you know that the photographs submitted by participants are taken in Singapore?
The photographers will have to declare the locations where the photographs are taken. The organisers have put in place processes to ensure that photographs taken out of Singapore will not be considered, including evaluation by experts in the field of nature and conservation in Singapore.
11. When will the judging take place?
The dates are to be confirmed. There will be different judging dates for the different themes.
12. Who are the judges?
The final judging panel will include representatives from the competition's organisers - NParks, Photographic Society of Singapore, as well as the competition's sponsors.
13. Is the judging open to the public?
Yes, the judging is open to the public. Do let us know in advance via email nparks_ciagpc@nparks.gov.sg if you are attending as space at the judging venue is limited.
14. When and how will winners be notified?
Winners will be notified via email.
15. Where and when will the winning entries be displayed?
The winning entries and selected merit winners for each theme will be exhibited at selected NParks' events.
16. What are the prizes?
Overall Best amongst the four themes:
- $3,000 cash,
- A fully paid exploration expedition with Clarins leading ethno-botanist Jean-Pierre Nicolas to a village in Burkina Faso, West Africa worth $20,000 sponsored by Clarins (click here to find out more about Jean-Pierre Nicolas), and
- A Lumix G system camera worth up to $1,499 sponsored by Panasonic.
Winners of each theme stand to win the following prizes:

19. How is this photography competition different from the International Year of Forests "Share Your Story" competition?
The CIAG Photography competition invites people to submit photographs on what they feel best represent the themes of "Our Parks and Gardens", "Trees and Forests", "BiodiverCity" and "My City in a Garden".
The International Year of Forests "Share Your Story" competition invites people to share about their favourite tree, plant, or animal, or their experience in our parks, nature reserves, park connectors by submitting a photograph or a written entry. 20. Can I also submit my entry for this photography competition with the one I have submitted for the International Year of Forests "Share Your Story" competition?

21. Who can participate in the junior category?
Children between 7 and 12 years old can participate in the junior category.
22. When will the junior category be open and close for submission?
The junior category will be opened for submission from 1 November 2011 and will be closed by 12pm Singapore time, 7 April 2012.
23. Can I participate in the open category even though I am between the age of 7 to 12?
Yes, you can participate in both the open and junior category if you are between the age of 7 to 12.
